ITW Linx M8 Surge Protector (M8)
When I first started working first Northeastern State University we had very
little surge protection on our equipment. The soil content here is very rocky
and every time there was any lightening we could count on having equipment
failure in certain areas. We knew that if it was time to clock out and a storm
was on its way there was no point in going home because we would be right back
at work as soon as it hit. At that time we were using equipment on our outlying
buildings that was very sensitive to AC irregularities. We began to install
another company’s surge protection product across campus but soon found
it to be completely inadequate. In fact we saw little difference at all after
installation. Shortly after this an old employee who had moved on to a larger
company called to tell us that his new company was using ITW Linx surge arrestors
and that they were having great success with them. After ordering a few pieces
to test we were sold. We had placed them in our biggest trouble areas and encountered
no AC related problems after that. Before this installation we could expect
to spend hours of labor using in-house technicians to fix blown circuit boards,
and replacing failed network equipment. Network down time has also been dramatically
reduced especially during the during the spring storm season. We now have the
MAX 8 Surge Protectors installed all over campus and have saved countless man
hours and dollars as a result.
